Through leadership and development,
sports and education, Role Models WA provides assistance
to West Australian Indigenous youth who suffer
from poverty, sickness, misfortune or a disconnectedness
from their community.

Mentoring & Support

Role Models WA has a team of elite Indigenous and non-Indigenous athletes and professionals who provide unique services to metropolitan and regional schools and communities.

Role models promote individual health, fitness and well being together with the development of pride through sport.  Their total commitment to the program is evident in their enthusiasm and their approach to the messages:

GOOD education NO alcohol, NO sniffing and definitely NO drugs.

Mentoring support for individual students is a core component of the Academies as we strive to guide students through personal, career and educational issues.  Academy staff work with school teaching and non-teaching staff, and specialist support staff, to help surround the girls with a supportive environment.  In conjunction with the school staff, Academy staff develop a Personal Development Plan for each girl enrolled in the Academy which include both short and long term realistic goals related to education, attendance, behaviour, and employment.

The mentoring support is provided during the formal years of schooling, however, the support is also provided after graduation when the girls leave school.
