Kalgoorlie (Kalgoorlie Girls Academy)

The Kalgoorlie Girls Academy focuses on improving the retention rate and education attainment of students in Years 8 through to Year 12.

The program aims to ensure that students develop the skills necessary to gain employment and are encouraged to seek further education and training.

Similar to the program at Clontarf, the overall structure of the Academy Program includes the following components:

  • Mentoring of Individual students by Academy Development Officers and other staff, with a plan to follow the girls’ progress beyond graduation.
  • Work Placement and Work Readiness for students in Years 10 – 12 coordinated by the schools’ VET Coordinators, with Role Models WA providing business networks and links to secure the best fit work placements and traineeships for the individual needs of the student.
  • Sports and Extracurricular Activities including training, coaching and involvement in competitions arranged by the Academy as incentives for the girls to regularly attend school, graduate, and to seek employment and further education.
  • Leadership, Teamwork and Vision development opportunities to improve the girls’ skills, sense of belonging and commitment, and capacity to explore the future in a positive way.
